Despite the recent loss suffered by the Blitz there is some good news I would like to share.
I am very happy and proud to announce that I was the first ever winner of Chess Life Online’s (CLO) new weekly US Chess League trivia challenge. As most other sites do a weekly round up of the action, CLO decided it would provide something different from a reporting angle each week to keep fans entertained and informed about the USCL.
I was the first and fastest person to answer all 10 trivia questions correctly. The questions ranged from “what was the key move in this position?” to general trivia such as “what was the first and last game to finish in week 1?”
There was some confusion at first as to my eligibility to win the trivia prize since it stated that players and managers could not participate. However, although I do various jobs for the Blitz, such as maintaining this website for instance, it was decided that I do not hold an “official” position and so therefore I could win the trivia prize, which was $30 in USCL merchandise. (After this they put in a rule that nobody can win more than one trivia prize a year!)
The really good news for everyone is that since I’m such a generous guy and want to do my bit to spread the Boston Blitz word around, I am going to donate my prizes, two wonderful Blitz mugs (valued at $15/each), over the next two weeks (weeks 4 and 5) to fans that attend the Blitz games onsite. Each fan/spectators who shows up during the first two hours of the matches will receive a raffle ticket and we will make the draw for the prize towards the end of each evening.
The “Blitz Mug” games are at the following times:
Wednesday, September 17, 7:00 pm – vs New Jersey Knockouts
Wednesday, September 24, 8:30 pm – vs San Francisco Mechanics
Remember, should you not be lucky enough to win one of these beautifully designed Blitz mugs at one of the matches, you can either try your hand at the CLO trivia each week to win your own or just simply purchase one from the official USCL Merchandise Store.
